This is the loudest complex I have ever lived in. Kids run around the building screaming in the middle of the night. I had to explain to a neighbor that it's not okay to blast music so loudly it was shaking glasses in my cabinets - on the other side of the apartment!
The management is also very rude and doesn't seem to understand that any time you ask for a more professional environment, it's time to get their game on. In fact, when I moved in, they acted like it was no big deal that they "forgot" to assign to an actual unit. If I had not called a week before to find out the unit number so I could have cable installed on my first day, they never would have found the mistake until I showed up with a moving and movers.
The parking is a problem, as is the trash. Many residents can't be bothered to take that step of actually putting trash in compactors, they just pile it up around it. There was also the time that a tree collapsed into the apartment roadway to the point that it blocked about 3/4 of it, I called it in, and a week later, it was still there.
The unit itself was large and pretty decent and had new appliances. Some units have closets that could be considered second bedrooms if they had a window. There is excellent water pressure, but there's little temperature control - it can scald you one minute and freeze you the next. There are some fantastic balconies in the complex. I actually set mine up as another room in the summer months - 6 large chairs, a rug, 2 tables, lights - and with the privacy of a giant tree, it was great.
If you don't live on the top or bottom floors, you do benefit a lot from radiant heat in the winter, so you don't have to turn your heat up nearly as much. Of course, since your utility bill is shared with your neighbors, it doesn't save you money if they had to blast theirs. I don't know what it's like on the top and bottom floors, so I can't say if they are better or worse than those in the middle.
Overall, if you don't mind the lack of parking near your building, the loud neighbors, and don't live right across from a trash compactor, it's not a bad place. Some floorplans have lots of space. However, if you have concerns for management, they may not take your concerns very seriously. In fact, if you call to report maintenance problems after hours, the call system only takes so many calls. When I tried to call to get ETAs on a correction, since so many had already called, the system just stops answering.
I might add that these problems have actually amplified since the switch to Avant from Patriot Village and the new management. It is clear that the new management group figured that they could turn a profit from the complex by cutting services.

I don't know what this person is talking about with the "call service" only taking so many calls... They have dispatchers that answer the calls all night long after the office has closed and call maintenence directly-- it's not like there is some answering machine. I have gotten BETTER service since they switched from Patriot Village to Avant!

I agree with the original poster. I moved in Dec of 07 and had multiple things wrong with my apartment. It is now the middle of April 2008 and 90% of these things still aren't fixed. It was promised to be fixed before I moved in. I had to make an emergancy call once for my heat breaking when it was about 30 degrees out and I did not see maintanance until the middle of the next day. I had to take my 2 year old to my parents because it was so cold.
