Less than a year and I had enough...

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I recently purchased a Townhouse, for a couple of reasons. 1)The market for buying is Great! 2)Patriot Village/The Avant management is terrible.
I had 2 beautiful days in the 395 days which I resided. The first day was Move in day. The second was when I moved out.
Below is a list of the Pros and Cons, for the complex and the management there.
PROS:
- Live on the 3rd floor, it's VERY quite up there.
- If you live on the 3rd floor, you don't have to run the A/C or heat as much. Which lowers the utility bill.
- My 2 bedroom was VERY large. 1200 sq. ft. !!
- Package acceptance @ Leasing Office.
- Business Center with internet, printing, and fax capabilities. (Not that I ever used it)
- I do like the Newsletter that goes out.
CONS:
- THE ABSOLUTE worst staff (With the exception of the young lady that rented me the apartment, and one other young lady still working there)
- Need to talk to the Property Manager' GOOD LUCK!!
- Don't even THINK about voicing your concern to any of the rest of the staff. RUDE RUDE RUDE!
- Guest parking, without a parking pass was cut in 1/2 about 6 months ago. (While there was PLENTY of tenant parking) Most of my guests had to park on the street 1/4 mile away and I had to pick them up and take them back, in my car.
- The Leasing Office hours are terrible.
- Parking passes are good for only up to 7 days, and you need to take time off from work to get to the office early enough to get one. One perm. pass should be given to each apartment. tisk tisk.
- The trash situation is ridiculous! Previous poster is Spot On! Although, the compactor is a good idea. It's just not big enough, or doesn't get emptied enough.
- Stairwells are very dimly lit. More Safety Walkthroughs need to be done to ensure that all light bulbs are replaced in short order. (Bulb in my stairwell was out for 3 months, and still was the day I left)
- My carpet had 3 patches in it when I moved in. :-/
- My air filter was NEVER changed during the scheduled maintenance.
- Rent increase was $100, after a year. Whataya NUTS'!'!
- Make sure you have a VERY common name, like John Smith. My name, although not uncommon, cannot be spelled any other way... Except by the Leasing office Staff person who sends out letters to the tenants! Very bad form, very bad. When I brought this to the persons attention, I received No Apology! OYE!
..... I could continue, but I think you have a good idea as to Why I had enough.
One last thing about calling the Leasing Office to talk to the Property manager...
The girl at the front desk grills you as to WHY you want to talk to the property manager. If I wanted to talk with her about my issue, I would. The conversation should be short and sweet with her. May I speak to the property manager... May I ask Who is calling'... Yes, Mr. ****. What is it in reference to' My apartment.... That's it, that's where the questions should END. But, NoooOOOOOoo. LOL
