So glad I moved

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I used to live at The Avant for 2 years. When it was time for renawal, first they were late with the renewal notice, giving me 4 days to decide if I wanted to move or not. Then to see the renewal rate for my rent jump by $400!!! It was a no brainer that it was time for me to go. No matter how much I hated the idea of packing up and moving I had to go.
I made the mistake of reffering a friend right before my renewal notice(Thank God she still considers me a friend) and they screwd her from jump. The apartment that she thought she was getting was not ready on her moving day. Even after management assured me and her that it would be move-in ready when I went to do the inspection 3 days prior to move-in day. Also, since I reffered a friend the special was $500 off the rent. I turned in the cerificate and do you know they never gave me the credit after 3 months. Even after I called and went in to talk to management. So with my last rent payment, I deducted the $500 credit and they tried to add it to damages after I moved out saying it was deliquent rent. I kindly sent them a note with the final payment for damages but not for the $500 that I was supposed to be credited.
I moved and love my new townhouse. The neghborhood is so quiet. No trash all around, or people dumping thier unwanted mail right by the mailboxes. When I come in and out of my home I don't have to worry about seeing a crowd of 8-10 outside one apartment they all live in. Biggest though is that with my rent and my indivdual utilites it still doesn't add up to what they wanted to charge for base rent.
Management can be very rude at times, but that one time I had to remind them that I'm not there for them to like me, all I want them is to do thier job.
If you are the type who is never home and just come in and out to change clothes then this may be a spot for you. On the other hand with the ridiculous amount they are charging for base rent, it is still not worth it.
I advise all that are apartment hunting, you might be better renting a townhouse. In my case it's cheaper, I have a piece of mind and sense of safety.
