Everyone on here is saying that it was great when you go in and check out the community and the staff is helpful. This is 100% true. Everyone is also saying that the staff does a 180 once you get in. This is about 98% true. If you go in and have no idea of Landlord Tennant law...they'll screw you. If you do know it, they'll try, but have nothing to actually use against you so take a class or read a book. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!!!
As for the actual apartment. My fiancee and I are very happy living in our actual apartment and building. Maybe we just lucked out and got neighbors who are respectful of each other or something, but we have had no problems (knock on wood) thus far. The neighbors that we do see are very friendly and there are several that I've not seen since moving in late summer. The size of our apartment is great for two people and our puppies. Its not HUGE, but we've made it our home and we are quite happy with it. Its my first apartment since moving out of my "college" house and it feels alot better to live in a "nice" place.
As for the price, its DC area! Its going to be expensive. However, with that said, I do feel like the price is a bit high for the area. Its not a great place to live if you are trying to commute to the city every day. Driving will take you at least an hour, and getting to the metro (Huntington so you can actually park) will take a good 20 minutes or so and then you still have to figure out how long it will take from there.
Overall, my apartment experience isn't that bad. If you don't have to deal with management, you'll likely have no problems. Apparently they are trying to make things easier to deal with them (i.e. enabling people to register problems online, etc.)...we'll see how that goes. If you are looking for a short term place or just starting out. Its not a terrible idea, but don't plan on raising a family or living here for a long time. I will likely be out and either buying a house or finding a single family home to rent at the end of my lease (in Aug.). P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS
