Positive experience so far...

I understand that a lot of people have written negative comments so far, but in comparison to what other buildings in the Ballston neighborhood have to offer for the same price, Archstone Ballston Square is definitely above par (at least from my EXTENSIVE apartment search in the past 3 months).

While the rent has gone up on their website since signing my lease, this is to be expected by ANY apartment managed by a company. The leasing office and concierge has been overly friendly and accommodating during the search and leasing period as well as move-in. I moved in on a busy Saturday and the concierge was able to give me access to the freight elevator earlier than scheduled. I've never had to wait more than 30-60 seconds for an elevator, the concierge has been overly friendly and helpful to checking-in my visitors, and the apartment was immaculate upon move-in. I haven't found the building to be very noisy, but it may be different throughout the building as I am located on an end unit. The trash chutes are centrally located and I've never questioned my safety in this building.

The overall reason why I chose this apartment was because of the availability, size of the apartment (I'm renting 1164 sq. ft. with a roommate), the availability of parking in the area (we have one spot in the building garage at $35/month and one at the Hilton for $85/month- CHEAP in comparison to other garages, and it's unrealistic to expect 2 spaces at any other apartment building), SUPER CLOSE walk to metro and price. What our monthly rent is divided in two is what we were both paying to live on our own more than 20 miles outside of the city, which made for long commutes. Again, I think most people's complaints have been about the cost, but that's to be expected in this area. Ballston Square is among the cheaper buildings within a few block radius of the Ballston metro.

I'll update soon once I start getting regular utility bills, etc.
