The place is stellar. The apartment has a ton of room, the closets are nice-sized, and everything is new and fairly well-maintained. The commute sucks if you're going into downtown DC and taking the bus--allow about 40 minutes to get into the Dupont Circle area, more for the hill. If you work at the Pentagon on drive in to the District, you're good to go. The bus is even free--but it really really sucks when you miss the bus and the next one isn't until 20 minutes later. I generally use taxis to go out on the weekends because the bus is few and far between in the off hours.
Upside: Lots of space, well-maintained, fairly responsive staff. They increased my rent 3 % in June 2007, and I'm moving out in June 2008 to somewhere more metro accessible. Having the BBQ grills and grassy areas are a huge plus.
Downsides: The garage parking is great, but the spaces are too small. The bus sucks - see above. The walls can be thin at times - the occupants upstairs apparently had a great Valentine's Day, but generally speaking there aren't any other problems, except for the massive amount of roaches and pillbugs last summer. Multiple visits from Terminix, had to keep harassing the leasing office to send someone out...the bugs subsided as the weather cooled so I don't know what the cause of that was.
Overall: Good place. If you commute via car, you're good to go, via Metro, it sucks. Don't regret living here at all.
