Rent is the cheapest in the area, and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Ancient buildings, parquet floors, no dishwashers, and extremely gross laundry rooms. The washers rarely work, although the Barcroft office will tell you they are being fixed. Parking has gotten better since parking permits have been in use. Now if you get home after 6, you'll have a spot somewhere, instead of before practically a mile away. Roaches are bad, I've had my place 'baited' 3 times now. Since I don't pay for electricity, I keep the kitchen light on all night, to keep the bugs away. The heating unit is a joke, and the radiators aren't warm enough to warm your car. They tell you air conditioned...it is a unit that is like in a hotel room, in your living room. It's heat and air conditioning. It doesn't cool your bedroom, so you'll need a window unit. They will charge you $175 extra for a window unit in the summer. If you can put up with minimalistic living conditions, and your neighbors aren't bad, it's a good deal here. That's the thing, some areas of Barcroft are less than desireable, so you take your chances.
