We moved into the Barton House Apts. a week ago and we'd like to corroborate the other reviews posted here.
When my partner and I decided to move from Alexandria to Arlington, we consulted the apartment locator books and toured at least a dozen communities. We had settled on a place and were set to make a down payment. Then, we discovered this website and learned some horrible things about the complex (roaches, elevator problems, bad mgmt.) By using the locator guides in conjunction with this website, we found the Barton House Apts, which fit our needs precisely. Frankly, we were pretty skeptical at first, because the reviews were so positive (we thought maybe the management might have written some of them, they were so good). But, we found that they were right on target and definitely not faked. From our first walk-through to our move in, we have been impressed. Bobbie, the property manager, is an absolute delight! As is Elaine, the resident manager. We've lived in large complexes in VA, MD and DC over the past decade, and this staff is THE BEST. They made us feel at home even before we moved in.
Yes, it's true: the washer-dryers are a quarter (and the dryers actually dry your clothes in one cycle). We have a garage parking space, and there's no add-on fee for it, either. All of the utilities are included. The property--inside and out--is exceptionally well maintained and well-lit at night. They took one month to prep our apartment (versus the day or two turn-around of most places) and it shows. It is the cleanest I have ever seen an apartment look upon moving in. They even gave us the opportunity to choose the paint color on the walls, which their painters applied; all we did was pay for the paint. We couldn't be happier. The only drawback is the waiting list, and no wonder. Who wouldn't want to live here'
