In an area where rent doesn't even necessarily include things like water, the Barton House shines as an outstanding value.

All utilities are included, even cable with HBO (Internet is extra but you can get the discounted rate for Comcast customers). There's a rooftop pool and sundeck, management is friendly, the front desk is staffed for about 18 hours a day, packages are accepted, kitties are welcome (and dogs might be; I just don't have a dog).

Rent goes up every year--where doesn't it'--but the increases are very reasonable, usually around $50. The apartments are nicely sized, even the studios (like the one I have). I would change the hallway carpeting if it were up to me, just because I don't like the pattern, but that's all I'd change.

This is a fabulous place to live. The hardest part is finding an open unit to grab.
