Bennington Apartments

Great apartment--poor management From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 3/13/2002 Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002   I have lived at the Bennington for some time now. The apartments are quite spacious, clean and nice to live in. It really would be one of the best buys in pentagon/crystal city if the management didnt have so many problems. It is my understanding that the management switches at least 1-2 times a year..it has changed once since i have been around..but that isnt unique to this building. They lost my rental check once and even after i brought it to their attention and they found the check..they proceeded to send me a summons for court. Apparently it has happened to multiple people in the building. While the whole thing was straightened out before court--the aggravation isnt something i would wish upon anyone. The front desk staff is generally very rude--at best they wont acknowledge your presence, at worst they will treat you poorly. Maintenance at the building has been excellent--they have fixed everything correctly and in a very timely manner. The only problem on this front is that last year they waited to turn the heat on in the building several weeks after it was already cold and waited to turn the air conditioning on until several weeks after it was already hot--but i think the unpredictability of the weather may have played into this. They also dont give you unlimited access to heat--they cap the temperature off at a certain point so regardless of whether you are cold you cant turn the heat any higher--but generally it hasnt been a really bad problem. Your access to heat is also based on the temperature outside. Prices are pretty reasonable and comparable to other apt prices in the area. The building is kept clean and it has been very safe since i have been there. It is very quiet and an excellent place to live aside from the things i have mentioned. I continue to live in this building now because the apartment is great--the new management is a little better --but still the same general problems with the staff in terms of getting them to respond appropriately if you have a problem. My recommendation--go in with your eyes wide open if you get an apartment here--ask for rental receipts every month and be prepared to endure aggravation--if you dont mind that part of it--it could be a great place to live.
