Awful, awful, awful...wake up to jack hammers every A.M.

Crystal City Square apartments are HUGE and "cookie cutter" - no charm what so ever. The management is questionable for several reasons. First off, they neglected to tell us of a major building revision (lasting YEARS) that started two weeks after we moved in and left us without the use of our balcony for 10 months. The sound of jack hammers permeates our bedroom starting at approximately 8:30-9 A.M. Additionally, after our 12 month lease is over, are rent is going up from $1445/mo to $1950/mo. if we sign another 12 mo lease. The rent goes up from $1445/mo to $2300/mo if we go month to month. We've essentially been priced out of our home. And as the prices we've been quoted are higher than the ones advertised on the website - combined with the factor that they addressed the rent increase letter solely to my (foreign-born) husband and not to both of us (I am paying and equal share and my name (which I didn't change when we married) is on the lease, too), we suspect that the management is guilty of housing discrimination. There is no excuse for this type of behavior. The management has refused to address this issue and an official compliant will be filed with HUD. My husband and I are responsible young professionals with graduate degrees, and there are no grounds for management's behavior.
