We have lived at DT for about four months now. Sure there are annoyances - you can hear the water running through the walls, the renovations are probably about 75% complete, the stairwells do sometimes smell a bit funny, and getting things fixed sometimes requires a bit of persistence.

But, it could be worse. We live in a fully renovated apartment and the only problem we've encountered is our kitchen light went out, which they replaced themselves. The office staff, while they do have a high turnover rate, are friendly. We're a short bus ride away from 2 metro stops, as well as the mall, grocery stores, and all sorts of other shops. There may only be two washers and two dryers on each floor, but out of four months of living here, we've only ever had to wait for them once. There are no pests that we've seen in our apartment or the hallways, the heat and A/C work wonderfully, they vacuum the hallways almost too often, and the cleaning and maintenance staff are very friendly. Not to mention, we've yet to come across another tenant that hasn't been friendly. We haven't experienced any staff entering our apartment without notice.

Writing as a graduate student who doesn't have a lot of incoming cash, this place beats out a lot of other apartments that may be a bit nicer, but lots more money (or places that were cheaper, but had pests). We're happy here, and will continue to stay if things stay the way they are.
