This place is a hellhole. (Not so much anymore.)

Management refuses to turn on AC until they are required to by law... by mid-May, it can be very hot! And then two years running, they had maintenance problems, so they still didn't get the A/C on until a couple weeks of 90-degree weather had passed. And there are no plans to test it this year, I just found out.
UPDATE: the DC area was hit by back-to-back days with temperature in the 90s, with another one coming. And it's only April. But this year, the A/C was brought on line by the second day! This is a full month earlier than last year, so I am very pleased with the improvement, and felt obligated to update this review!
Management workers are downright hostile to longtime residents. Friends lost their keys, and it took 4 hours and $125 charge to be let into the room. The rooms looked nice when we first came here, but everything was literally simply white-washed. Everything started falling apart immediately and there simply is no maintenance.
There are, however, roaches.
There is a pool, but it closes before I get home from work each day, so I can't use it. There is plenty of parking, but they tow visitors, unless you get a parking pass while the office is open, so you can forget about having friends pop by in the evening. There is no roof antenna, but there is a strong interference preventing people on the south side of the building from getting cell phone or television reception.
Since moving here, they raised the rates, whereas most rates in the area are falling. Comparable rooms now cost $200 more here than next door, which is nicer anyway. (I had been pressed for time when I moved here, and took a move-in special of one month free rent. Oh, how I regret that!
MORE UPDATE: My panning of the staff was based on older staff; I'm impressed that the new staff people are bringing about substantive change, not just seeming more friendly. One new staffperson's bluntness I took as carelessness that things weren't going to improve; in light of improvements, I can respect the honesty. And I think the other new staffperson has the clout to get things done much better, not just be a more pleasant response.

Yes, the heat/air conditioning thing is frustrating. But I've lived at DT for nearly two years and not once have I seen a single roach/bug/insect. Maintenance has done several preventative treatments in our apartment without us asking first. And as far as visitor parking goes, you won't find any large apartment complex like this in the area that has a different policy. If you want free visitor parking, move out to the suburbs.
The place isn't perfect, but you get what you pay for.

I moved to Dominion Towers a few months ago, and while the management has always been helpful and nice we've had quite a few problems. Last week there was a mouse in my apartment and yesterday I saw two roaches! I'm completely disgusted.

How do you feel now that they have begun to double charge us for utilities? Our utilities have always been included within the rent we pay, but now (with no notice of such discussions) they are going to charge us some fictitious monthly fee through a third party company for utilities. Oh and in their own words the monthly bill will "be subject to change and fluctuation." The former manager Solomon quit over this issue.
I'm moving out for sure and will be telling any prospective renters I see to go elsewhere. I've been here for 4 years, but am not staying after this latest incident.
