An ugly body with a pretty face

This building will impress you at first glance with its stunning lobby, but the problems lie below the surface. Although the building is relatively new, it was poorly built and has rapidly declined as a result. The doors inside the apartment are made of plastic and the walls are paper thin. The carpet in our apartment was stretched, buckled, and worn out in a matter of 6 months.

In our two years living here we have suffered with pipes backing up soap from other apartments' laundry in our washing machine, leaking pipes in the sink and bathroom, windows which have not been cleaned EVER, fire alarms at all hours day and night, often broken fitness center equipment, junky business center equipment, and stinky trash smell from the trash rooms which are NEVER cleaned. When the building began enforcing parking rules, our car was "accidentally" towed due to a miscommunication over where to place our official window sticker (with no warning to indicate the correct place), and we were told it was our fault.

The management was better in our first year before Bozutto sold the building to Archstone-Smith. Smith hasn't been able to keep a stable property manager (they have had 5 or 6 people in the last year), and the latest guy is unaccommodating and tries to find ways to screw over the tenants. At the front desk, the turnover problem is even wors, so the staff yells at you if you forget your keys while at the same time all sorts of delivery people and guests whisk by without signing in (as per the policy). I think their official policy is not to return calls.

Bottom line, if you want to deal with this kind of crap you can find a place for much less money, but if you want a luxury building you should take your business elsewhere.
