I regret moving here...
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 1/27/2003
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
The apartment complex is brand new, opening in August of last year. And although this place is the nicest place I've ever lived at, I still regret moving here.
I was one of the first tenants to move in and I haven't been completely satisfied with the place.
CONS:
1. The walls are very thin. I've been asked on numerous occasions by the same neighbor to turn down my TV because she felt it was too loud. I was watching Joe Millionaire earlier tonight and she banged on the wall to have me turn it down! I couldn't believe it because honestly, the TV wasn't even on that loud. However, since most of the tenants are professionals and well off financially, having noisy college type neighbors is highly unlikely.
2. Insulation is horrible. Near the bedroom and balcony windows, it is very drafty. You can feel the cold air coming in.
3. No storage space. In the 1BR apartment I have, I have two closets and both are small. If you're a packrat, you're going to find it difficult putting things away. The kitchen is the same way. Not a lot of shelf space.
4. Some of the tenants seem to be snobby or stuck up, at least the ones I've encountered. You can say hello to someone in an elevator and they don't even acknowledge you. And just last week, we were told we could not have mats outside our door because supposedly someone had an offensive door mat. Give me a break!
PROS:
1. Brand new apartment. There's nothing like being the first person to live in a unit. :)
2. Fitness center and club room are on the 19th floor and has a nice view of the DC skyline.
3. Management seems to be improving. When I first moved in, the only person I could count on was Chris, the property manager. The one girl they had (or still have, not sure anymore) seemed so air-headed and clueless. But I thought maybe it was because it was a new complex and they had to learn everything.
4. Ahzekal (spelling is incorrect). One of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He works evening shift at the front desk.
When my lease is up, I will definitely not renew it. Not being able to enjoy watching TV or a movie because you're worrying about if it's too loud really puts a damper on the evening. Or maybe my neighbor needs to realize this is a high-rise apartment and people can be noisy up until 10 pm.
