Seriously Affordable in North Arlington

I've lived in a small studio apartment on the first floor for years and it's a decent place. I lived on the next street over (Adams) before I moved here and although it's a stone's throw away, rent is several hundred dollars more to twice as expensive (albeit for a nicer building).
I've never had roaches and while I've needed to have repairs done, they were always done promptly and resolved the issue. The building and grounds are sad-looking and dull, but you live walking distance to all the best North Arlington has to offer.
Yeah, it can get cold in the winter but that's what an electric heater is for (and no worries, electricity is about $30 per month). The water temperature in my unit fluctuates some, but you can hear it coming and turn the knob warmer. The refrigerator is old, and when it cycles up, it clicks and knocks...that's what took me the most time to get used to.
Over all, I'd recommend Howard Manor if you're on a budget and don't want to move to true suburbia. Neighbors don't usually stay too long. Cars in the parking lot range from rusty junkers to $40K Z4's. Trash and recycling bins collected regularly and don't stink (beware the occasional raccoon or opossum though).
