ROACHES!

Do not move here-this property is going down the drain! I am a very clean person, mopping every week, but I frequently encounter MOUSE SIZE roaches in my kitchen. The exterminator claims to use spray which will keep roaches at bay for 6 months, but this is not true. It will be maybe a week before roaches appear again. The property manager does not respond to problems quickly, and with the office closed on Mondays, it's a joke to have any problem from the weekend fixed in a timely manner. The only good thing is the maintenance crew-they are reliable and quick. I used to love this place, but in the last few months, tenants have been moving out, apartments have been sitting empty, the roach problem has been getting worse, it's becoming very loud, and my rent is increasing. I am moving out as quickly as I can find another place!

Lived here?

I've lived here for over 5 years and have never seen even one roach. Also, a friend of mine wants to live here and talked with the manager last week -- they have only one apartment open. This is also the quietest apartment complex I've ever lived in. Are you sure you posted about the right apartment complex?

I am the resident manager at Lyon Village Apartments. I know that this forum is largely for renters to share information, but this review was brought to my attention, and I felt that it deserved a reply.

This reviewer left a message on the rental office's non-emergency voicemail outside of regular office hours at 5:22 p.m. Monday, May 5. She posted her ApartmentRatings.com review that same evening. Her message, in contrast to her review, notes that she had seen a single roach in her kitchen. Upon receiving her message this morning, Tuesday, May 6, I returned her call to let her know that I had arranged for the exterminator to treat her apartment on Thursday, May 8. Our records indicate that her apartment was last treated on January 10 of this year. We routinely provide pest control service for building common areas twice a month, and in addition, we provide these services on request for individual apartments. Other than this reviewer, no resident has requested service for or reported roaches in their units.

I'm glad her review mentions the reliable, quick service provided by our maintenance crew. They generally respond to non-emergency maintenance calls within 24 hours for requests made during regular office hours (9-5, Tuesday to Friday, and 10-2 on Saturday). They also provide emergency maintenance service to residents outside of office hours 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

I have to disagree with this review as well. I've lived here a long time, I've never seen a roach. The apartments are so quiet, you can't hear a knock on the front door from the back bedroom! The neighbors are wonderful. We meet people in the courtyard, chat, and always get a smile. There are some new children in the community, and it's always a joy to see them playing together in the courtyard in the afternoon. It feels like a real community, find that in another apartment complex! After dark, it's silent around here. The office is closed on Mondays, but if you call or go to the door there is an emergency number for maintenance clearly posted and announced on the answering machine. Every time I've called it, I've gotten quick response to my issue.

I am also a resident and have seen one cockroach in my apartment since moving in....I did notify management, but never received a response as to whether they were going to do anything about it or not. I have seen one rat that was in the courtyard dead for several days before someone managed to move it. Some of the walls are paper-thin.....my bedroom backs up to another's living room, and it can be really noisy, especially when they choose to play their piano loudly. I love the apartment though and the neighborhood, however if the rent goes up, I will be looking elsewhere.
