Utilities-Garage

I noticed that someone placed a comment regarding utilities and I wanted to share my experience that I had there at Warwick.

As for gas, it was very high..I even turned the pilot light on my fireplace off to help save money. Yes, this is out of their control, but consider it when you move in because the stove, water heater and heat are gas. For a 1 BR, my highest bill one time was over $60 and I was not there often that month.

As for water...they submeter their water and sewer. This means they have a third party bill you for your water and sewer, and yes they do make money on it. Their rates are about 18-20% than from the utility company directly...and it is legal in VA. ..just something else to consider.

If you are on a high floor, don't even think about a fireplace. The apt heats up too fast to even enjoy it and I never had mine on. In the Summer, expect your a/c to run a lot if you are on a higher floor--common sense.

Garage-I'm not sure if they are doing anyting about it, but I did noticed someone mention it earlier. Yes, it was leaking and if you park under the leak, your paint will be damaged. Water seaping through concrete is not something you want on that new car and many tenants leave town for long periods only to come back and find their cars damaged from the leaking roof in the parking garage.

Staff-they're ok..nothing special. They are bad about returning phone calls, but I found that to be typical in any apt complex around DC. There were a few nice staff members, especially Linda in the Concierage. Julianne and Tamika (sp') were more personable in the leasing office than some of the others.

I would recommend to check around and you will find some great apts in the area that are about the same. ...just try to look at the overall picture and use common sense. Ask them directly about some of the issues brought up on here and see what kind of answer they give you.
