Nice but far from metro

I moved down to the DC area to go to grad school. I chose the Park at Arlington Ridge because the apartments are nice and it was the most reasonable price in the area. I have enjoyed living at the Park for the past year. The apartments are a bit small but they have a nice open layout with new appliance, and having the washer and dryer was a plus. The area is nice, especially if you're not from a city and not quite used to city living yet.
I was at 1601 28th Street S which just happened to be a perfect location at the intersection of 26th and 28th Street. I was right across from the pool and the fitness center, I was near the garbage dumpsters (there are only two throughout the entire complex so some people do have a long walk) but not too close, and being located on 28th Street allowed for ample street parking for visitors and a second car without having to pay for another apartment permit. The apartment got lots of sunlight all day long and looked out at the bus stop so you can just wait for it to go by one way and then go out and wait for it to come back the other way (cuts down on waiting in the cold or hot).
I only encountered one maintenance problem which was that my key would not go in the front door (for some reason the lock was jammed). Although I had to wait a half hour to get into the building the lock was replaced the next day. As far as other possible complaints, the only one would be about the business office. I used the business office in order to print some lectures or papers for class and I always had a problem. None of the computers seem capable of reading a PDF file without crashing, and certainly can not print one.
Other than that I really enjoyed living at the Park. My only reason for moving really is that I wanted to be closer to the metro. Although there is a free shuttle to Pentagon City, it only runs during rush hour in the morning and evening which did not help me when I had class at night.
