good location, poor construction

For the rent, the construction of the apartments is pretty poor. I would expect the level of noise that I had experienced for a $1100 apartment, not the high amount that I paid each month. I had an upstairs neighbor who seemed to be rarely there (could tell b/c I could hear her clucking her heels each morning that she was in). Then, I had another neighbor move in, and the noise level was definitely higher because he/she seemed to be in more often. Get a 5th floor apartment if you can. It?s higher rent, but may be worth the price unless you get lucky and live below an absentee neighbor.
The gym is pretty nice, and the pool is indoor, which helps during the winter months. Getting packages is a BIG pain because the office hours of the leasing office is 10-6 or so during the work week. You may not even know that you?ve gotten a package sometimes. There is no apartment staff (other than maintenance) because the leasing office doubles as apartment staff. Some of the leasing staff are very nice (genuinely); some only say "hi" when they?re showing a prospective tenant around so it seems like that is the way it always is.
Bottom line: great location, poor construction.
