Great location, great apartment

Having moved in last summer after reading the reviews here, I wanted to give my positive take on the place so far.

I don't understand how anyone can be surprised by the amount of their rent; I found out what my rent would be BEFORE moving in, so have been quite happy with it. It's true, all the Pentagon Row apartments (not just Post) are a bit more expensive than the rest of Pentagon City and Crystal City because of their location and amenities, which are well worth it to me (even though it means living in a 1bdrm instead of the 2bdrms I could have afforded further out). Find out what it will cost and decide if it's worth it to you and if you can afford it.

I just survived a holiday shopping season with my longest exit from the garage taking 5-10 minutes. Most of the time its nearly instant, because though the gate is shared with the shopping center, residents queue up in a different line that alternately merges with the shoppers right at the gate (at least at my exit). My unreserved parking spot cost only $25, and there are numerous unreserved spots to spare in my lot (green) at all hours of the night, as long as you don't insist on parking right at your door.

Of course, I rarely drive since I take metro to work (metro is 1 block away, nearly entirely indoors) and the apartment complex contains a grocery, dry cleaner, mailing store, and about a dozen restaurants (not to mention the Pentagon City Mall directly adjacent).

It's true that there's no guest parking.

I've never heard a fire alarm go off, and I've been home during the days 3/4 of the time. Update -- management just put out a note apologizing for recent fire alarms, so apparently it is still a problem. They explained that since its a single building, alarms in the commercial properties have to sound throughout the apartments and suggested that there is a seasonality to the problem.

The fixtures in the "luxury" model are as good as I've had in an apartment (granite countertops, nice wood floors, crown molding, very nice handles/knobs/hinges).

Having a wood floor does seem to imply that the person above me has a wood floor, and there are times I'd like to go buy him a rug (I can't complain too much, since I don't yet have one in place).

I'll certainly have to continue to evaluate when I find out the renewal price next summer, but I definitely love living here.
