The building was built in the 60s and as a result, you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the apartments around you. The management made a contract term that requires 80 percent of flooring in each unit to be covered with carpet at the renter's expense (the entire apt is parquet floors) but they don't enforce it so you can hear the neighbors upstairs opening and closing their closets, walking, or sliding chairs around. For example, I had a 6:30am alarm clock when my upstairs neighbor gets up and presumably throws a wooden leg onto the floor. Despite several complaints, there was no change.

Also, there was a huge construction project going on when I left this Sept (and it will go on for several years apparently) to refinish the brickwork facade. What that means is you don't sleep past 8am and you can never be in your apt while the workers are out there banging and drilling away. However, the management doesn't seem to think its important enough to install wall to wall carpeting in all the bedrooms and ensure a consistency of sound proofing for an old building.

The staff is nice, it has nice amenities like drycleaning in the building and a small workout room. However, if you're seeking value, be warned that you get what you pay for, and the rates are going up so the value isn't even there anymore.
