Great place along Columbia Pike

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004

These apartments were completely renovated in 2002 (if I remember correctly); this includes new appliances, new kitchens, new bathrooms, new carpet, new walls and windows. Unfortunately, they neglected to insulate the outer walls and when it is freezing outside, it is freezing inside as well.

A couple of things to know: if you have a lot of electrical items, especially those requiring grounded outlets (ei: computers, stereo equipment), be prepared for some Home Depot trips and Bob Villa moments because there is only one grounded outlet (outlets with 3 prongs) in the apartment outside of the kitchen and bathroom.

Also, I can't speak for the whole community, but several of the tenants in my building and the one adjacent to mine are total slobs with little regard for the surrounding property. These tenants are messy, they don't clean up after themselves, the laundry room is disgusting by Sunday night (all sorts or grossness going on there...), and if it weren't for the endless hard work of the maintenance and support staff, this place could easily turn into a slum, which is probably where this small handful of people arrived from. As you might be able to guess, it only takes a few people to ruin it for everyone else.

The community grounds however, are a different story: these are immaculately cared for by the apartment grounds staff, and you would never know that you were 50 feet off of Columbia Pike by looking around the community. From leaf removal in the fall to snow removal of walkways (not the street however, since it is a private road) in the winter, hands down one of the nicest looking communities around.

Parking is by permit (one per apartment) with spaces available for guests and additional cars either in front of the buildings or within a short walking distance.

The walls tend to be a bit thin; it is not challenging to hear your neighbors, so hope that they have a similar schedule to you, and understand the concept of loud music = neighbor unhappiness.

The majority of the units are off-street, greatly reducing noise from Columbia Pike. Again, the only noise you're likely to hear is from your neighbors.

The staff is very professional and consistent. I think most staff members live on the property themselves, and can always be seen around the community.

After looking at several different communities along the Columbia Pike corridor, Quebec apartments is by far the best choice.
