I moved here from Park Center Apartments, paying about $1300 (not including utilities which were sometimes $200) for a 1 bedroom/den apartment. My wife and I saw the place, and she loved it.
Metro access either direction 3 blocks away (they say 2, but no, its 3) in a reasonable neighborhood and relatively safe at night.

While Ballston mall is not the cleanest, newest or even a great mall, it is adequate. Movie theater and restaurants in the mall all about 3-4 blocks away. Along with a gas station, Giant (about 3-4 blocks away as well) and many many restaurants all around the immediate area, makes it a very nice place to reside.

Inside is different. Because it is better. There are a ton of kids here, many are going to college (wish my folks could afford this when I was younger) there are also diplomats and what not here. So the community is well diversed.

The staff here, aside from some in the leasing office are very friendly and helpful. I say the leasing office, because it is a similiar attitude that I got from Park Center, like getting a package "oh, you want me to get up'" kinda attitude when the normal people working the desk are not there. The security guards are friendly as well. And when they pull double duty on the front desk, I have no problems at all. The cleaning and maintenance staff are also quite friendly as well.

My washer/dryer crapped out on me about 3 months after moving in, and they replaced the unit pretty much same day. Also my garbage disposal unit got some small pebbles in it and didn't function and someone was there fairly quick and got it working.

Utilities are included, so I don't have to worry about that winter, or hot summer when everyone has their apartment either really hot or really cold, or running their water all day long or pay for AC for the rest of the building. It is nice to know how much you pay , per month, every month.

Parking... this has been irritating the crap out of me for months. They made the parking spaces too small. I am driving a full size car and parked in a middle spot. Both spaces on either side of my car are designated compact. I have another full size car and a SUV parked next to me. Both do not always stay in the lines, and I pretty much have to get out of my car Dukes of Hazzard style. I do tell the front desk and they have notified the people, and the car moves, but they cannot move cars around. If I had one complaint, it's that you don't put a non-compact car in a compact space,,, you just do not do it.

The rooms are nice. Mine comes with two balconies that are very spacious and ok view. Well if you like looking at other buildings. There has been construction of another apartment/condo building since I moved in, but they are almost done, and no more hearing a heavy trucks beeping as they back up. You don't hear sounds from outside unless it is a car honking or a siren, or someone crashing. Same is true with hearing your neighbors. The only time I have heard my neighbor is when super bass is playing. I call downstairs and they send someone to investigate and ask that the music be turned down. All very nice.

Seriously, if you have the ability to live here, this is a nice place. We are probably going to downgrade to a 1 bedroom/den because of the fact, it is a little pricey, but we do like it, and the area.

Great review, very helpful! I was on the fence but this seems like a pro-con unbiased review.
