Still the best value around Ballston

Comments here have been fair on the elevator situation. The contractor has let Dittmar down and now we're all paying the price. They are being replaced one by one so I'm hopeful that in another six months at the most we can finally have all the elevators up. The resident manager, Kristin, is really a great person who's working her best to meet the needs of the tenants. I wish the Dittmar management or elevator contractor would post updates -- at least knowing how much longer the job will take can make a difference. At least when I can catch Kristin she keeps me appraised. In the meantime it is an acknowledged inconvenience and one of the factors behind why they haven't been ramping up the rent.
We still view our two-bedroom apartment as a good value. You don't get walk-in closets elsewhere; you don't get this size washer/dryer included at most either; and you don't get double panes of glass on the windows elsewhere to further muffle noises from outside.
Maintenance does quickly respond to issues, and they've fixed what we've asked in one visit.
Unlike most high rises in the area, there isn't a security check at the front. In over a year we've never heard of a problem but just treat your apartment door as a door to the street to be on the safer side is all.
The staff are mostly friendly and helpful. When we moved in we were unexpectedly in a bind when our moving truck broke down short of arrival. Kristin really exceeded our expectations by letting us have an unoccupied furnished apartment for a few days until our furniture came in. That was really very nice and saved us from trying to sleeping in our empty apartment! To us, that kind of sincerity has made a real difference in dealing with the elevators.

Completely agree without living there. In the process of looking to get out of Ballston Place and my friends live in Randolph Towers rave about how large there is apartments are and how it's the cheapest priced in Arlington. My only complaint is that they haven't had any vacancies for me to get in. Will be on a month to month, so I guess I will have to wait.

Try Richmond Square - right across the street. It's a much newer and nicer building - better maintained and managed too. It's a little more expensive, but there are no leaks, no coned parking spaces, and all the elevators work. The longest I've ever had to wait for an elevator was 25 seconds - not 25 minutes. No, I'm not management, but I live here and can testify to the exceptional living atmosphere here.
