I've lived in the River House apartments for almost 4 years, and I'm leaving at the end of next month. Overall my time has been enjoyable--you can't beat the location and safety of the neighborhood. The James is by far the best of the three complexes, but I have to agree with others about the management and staff. I have always had good experiences with the support staff, but the front desk is extremely rude and the management is invasive and also rude. Great introductory apartment for someone new to DC with limited requirements and openness to building management that inquires into your personal situations--if you need a surrogate mother, the James is right for you.
Also--the Potomac has paper thin walls...you will hear your neighbors conversations amongst other things.
