I'm a little surprised at the complaints, as my experiences with building management and maintenance issues have always been positive. The location is great-- it is convenient to Metro, shopping, groceries, and dining. The rent is acceptable; it's gone up more than I might like recently, but I acknowledge that the neighborhood has become a lot more desirable in past few years. Yes, these are high rise buildings, and with that comes the possibility of pests/rodents. However, in my three years of living here, I have had only one problem (with a mouse) that was dealt with immediately (which I appreciated, since I discovered the mouse late at night, and the building still sent someone up). I have had one or two maintenance issues; all were dealt with promptly and professionally. My only real complaint is that the walls between apartments are a bit thin, and I think that each building should have its own gym (the Ashley and the Potomac share one). Otherwise, I have been very happy here.
