Well, I moved in when it was a good deal and now that the management has changed hands repeatedly, the only constant is the rumblings about the rent increases. What is so laughable about the rent increases and the addition of having to pay utilities (which used to be included), is that there has been zero improvements made to the facility! Unless you count the ridiculous "Concierge" service. Thanks, I can order my own movie tickets. Let's talk about the laundry room where machines are never fixed and continue to steal your money off your laundry card. Then let's talk about the building's air conditioning units. They turn on the heat or the cold, but you can't have both. The system is ancient and unreplaceable. This is a basic building for people who want a good deal on rent. It is not fancy and cannot be compared to the Post, Parc Vista, or Metropolitan apartments across the street.
No wonder they can't fill these apartments. And now they have a rent to own system!!! Ha. I will move out as soon as my contract job is up. If I am going to be spending the same amount of $, I might as well live in a building with central air and washer/dryer in the units. Too bad I will be giving up that Concierge service though. LOL

Agree totally. Just want to clarify one point: the "rent to own" program does not mean that you could eventually own your unit in River House. What is means is that eventually you would, after many continuous months of renting, get some kind of discount if you bought a condo built and developed by Kettler, which now manages River House. The amount is something like $2500 or $5000 - whatever it is, is't PEANUTS compared to the cost of a new condo around here and would NEVER convince me that the rent increases at River House were worthwhile.
And you're so right about the "concierge/VIP desk" services we are now "entitled to" as part of our excessive rent increaes - we can call a number and someone will order move tickets or recommend a restaurant. HELLO?!? I am completely capable (moreso, I'd say) of conducting my own online research and finding everything I need to know about shows, hotels, etc.
Kettler is seriously misreading their market demographic if they think urban professionals can't perform these "concierge" services online by themselves in 1/10th the time it'd take to a place a phone call to this "concierge."

Wow, its hard to believe how far the River House has fallen. I was going to move back last August, but I could never reach anyone in the rental office on the phone. I am SO glad they didnt answer.... wow River House used to be the best bargain in the area, it was inconceivable of it becoming the hot mess it is today.
