Glad I'm gone

I moved into the River House in 2005 and the other posters were correct: it was a great deal at the time but since new management took over, things have gone downhill. Management is difficult to deal with and slow to respond. My toilet wasn't working one day and I reported it in the early morning. I had to keep calling the front desk before they finally sent someone up to fix it at 5pm (and they hadn't logged the work order in the first place). Noise levels have gone up as well; there is constant hammering, slamming of doors, and if you work at home during the work day, constant construction as workers turn over apartments. Parking and utilities are no longer included but are submetered by an outside company that bases its determination of your utilities on a formula - NOT individual meters. The fee to break your lease is also ridiculous - 2 month's rent plus an additional month's rent as a 'concession fee' so they can re-list and advertise the apartment.
For what you get for the rent now it's not worth it to live here. The apartments are HUGE since they were built in the late 50s and that's a plus, but you don't get any of the details (washer/dryer in the apartment, hardwood floors, upgraded kitchens, etc.) that other places in the area offer for the same price.

Wow that is crazy how much it costs to break your lease. When I rented there your lease went month to month after the first year. It was great because you only had to give 30 days notice that you were leaving and they only raised your rent once a year. The new management has ruined River House Apartments.
