When Bozzuto took over managing the buildings, they sent a notice out that they were cancelling the contract with the security company that, in part, patrolled the parking lots at night, further stating that they would be installing security cameras. Today, Aug 14, 2009, residents received a letter from Bruce MacQueen, General Manager, notifying us of the recent crime spree at the property involving cars being broken into (it did not mention the assault at the adjacent park, but that is technicallly not River House property). Did Bozzuto state that they were confident that the perpetrators would be caught and prosecuted because they were caught on tape by the new security cameras' No..oh yea, those were never installed. Did they take responsibilty for not renewing the security contract and state that they would seek to provide a security patrol again' Of course not. Residents were told that we should buy an alarm system or steading lock for our cars. Way to lead from the front, take respnsibiltiy for poor management decisions and provide for the safety and security of your residents.

As a resident, I find the letter pretty baffling, however, the crime 'spree' as you call it, is happening all over the area NOT just at the River House. Therefore the management is taking the opportunity to tell the residents to be pro-active and to protect themselves. The security patrol that was here under Kettler was useless but they probably had a few potential crimes deterred just by their presence. I would feel more secure if the Arlington police, who sit across the street in their cars drinking their Starbucks Lattes actually did their job and patrol - since we DO pay for County parking here. I don't see why the management are at fault for sending out a letter to keep residents informed.
