Been here 6 months

Pros: Location and price. A five minute walk to the Rosslyn metro and a 15 minute walk to Georgetown is nice. In addition, Rosslyn seems to be a very safe area of D.C. (I have not had any problems). And if you are a biker or jogger, there are four trails within a few blocks of this place. Also, $1,350 for a spacious one bedroom (which includes all utilities and parking) in Rosslyn isn't too bad for this area. There are better deals down here, but if you're on a budget this place isn't too bad.

Cons:
Plumbing: The pipes here are 60 years old and are constantly clogged. My toilet stops flushing every month (it takes a few days for them to respond and fix the problem) and even when it works, I have been getting a pretty bad raw sewage smell coming from it. Same think with my sink. The other day I was running the dishwasher and somehow my sink began to overflow and spill onto the kitchen floor. I got that repaired and have not had a problem since.

Bugs: There was a cockroach problem when I moved in, however, I got my apartment sprayed and have not seen a cockroach in two months.

Noise: The guy next door spent a month remodeling his place and it was extremely loud. A few days I actually had to leave my apartment because of the noise. Also, my apt. faces the 'courtyard' so the snowplows and ambulances (for some reason they are here pretty frequently) wake me up in the middle of the night.

Heat: You can't control it. It's on nonstop (except when they shut it off the coldest day of the year). I literally have had my windows open all winter. It has been so hot and dry in my apartment (in the middle of winter), that every plant I bought has since died.

Laundry: Really annoying. You need to buy a five dollar plastic card just to do laundry. And you need to add money to the card in incriments of $10. So, to do laundry, you need either a $10 or $20 bill. Quarter, $1's, and $5's are useless.

I am definitely moving out of here next year. But if you are desperate for a place to live and are on a budget, you could do worse.
