I lived at River Place West for several years. The new building management is good. However, it's a crap shoot with neighbors. River Place is peppered with "students", many of whom are arrogantly self-centered. Expect sleep deprivation - and I'm not a light sleeper. The vents in the kitchen and bath don't carry air, so mold and mildew is an uphill problem. They do carry voices from other floors clearly. The loading dock in recent years has turned into a late night party place. I never had any bug problems.

The big money speculators have recently bailed out. Small fry speculators and flippers are buying in. Rent gouging is on the rise for some really grotty units.

It's not as bad as the North building, which has frequent fire alarm evacuations and gaggles of police cars out front. I've seen people handcuffed there.

The East building is not energy efficient with single pane windows that open with the old turn handles. Plus, they've been painted over so many times as to hardly close. The whole building has amusty odor.

River Slum was alright in the beginning, But I'm glad to be out.
