Robin Towers

Great location and low rent...that is about it...The building is very old, dirty and not too well kept up (cardboard patches on some ceilings, very old elevator that frequently breaks, AC failed for 2 weeks twice during consecutive summers). This is what you have to be able to deal with. Because it is an older building the soundproofness of each apartment is excellent. Apt building has lots of cockroaches and management exterminates every month and to no avail. Some apartments are much worse than others, I have only seen 6 or so roaches in a year so it doesn't bother me too much but other apartments are infested (horror stories I have heard from exterminators, we have gone through quite a few). If you don't move your pots and pans from under your sink they will spray them with chemicals designed to kill roaches. AC units suck although free utilites...even with it cranked all the way down it never really gets below 72 but at least it isn't humid. Free parking in back is nice as is 7-11 right across the street. You can catch the ART bus from Rosslyn metro for 35 cents with a transfer which always makes the ride home up the huge hill much nicer. The bathrooms are all pink tiled (nasty) but the shower has killer water pressure and but might not always be as hot as you may want it (but its free). No dishwashers, no carpeting, new storm windows and shades. If you want convenience to a metro, low rent, no fee to park your car and free utilites and don't mind the overall scuzziness of the apartment or the building than hey this place is for you.
