Best bang for the buck

I've done some serious research into apartments in this area, and no other place provides such a high ratio of square footage to $$$, especially in the 2 bedroom case in a relatively modern building.
When I moved in, the exterior was well-maintained and very clean, but things have degraded substantially since the new management began. I've also noticed a substantial influx of students, which is explained by the fact that Art Institute of Washington's dorms are located here as well. I learned that fact on this site. Its interesting that none of the apartment staff informed the residents about this.
I can only assume that this student influx is recent, as before the last year, the exterior maintanence was much better while the maintanence staff is currently larger.
The elevators are frequently vandalized, but not in a way that stops them from functioning. The students are also loud and inconsiderate at times, but they don't saturate the place too thoroughly.
Parking is a serious issue at this apartment complex, but if you can deal with having one space per car, the garages are quite nice. Getting two spaces is expensive.
I have never felt security to be a problem, but I have had things stolen off my balcony. I recommend holding out for a balcony at the rear of the apartment instead of the entrance.
Inter-apartment noise is not a problem, as the rooms are fairly well isolated from one another, but noise across courtyards can be substantial as the buildings form echo chambers.
In general, the apartment complex is not ideal, and is in the process of degrading physically, but it is still far and away the best space and location for the money in the area.
