Decent place, horrible management

I have lived here for a few months, and while I have found the apartment itself to be satisfactory (cheap fixtures, etc., but that's to be expected) and reasonably priced for the area, the management is a real headache. They are very friendly, but you have to ask them 3 or 4 times before they will actually take action on a request, and phone messages are never transmitted to appropriate parties. For example, I signed a lease 3 weeks ago and have been requesting my copy since the day I signed it (for reimbursement purposes -- I need my money!), and every time I go in there, they tell me that it will be ready "at the end of the week" because the corporate office has to approve it and send it back. They tell me this every week, and still nothing gets done. And I talk to a different person about it every time (not by choice) and am forced to re-explain my situation at each turn. Only today did it come out that my copy has not even been SENT to corporate to be approved -- it's been languishing in the office the entire time! It's very frustrating. I think they have good intentions, but one gets the feeling that nobody in the office has ever managed a property before. They are extremely unprofessional. Although I have not had maintenence issues with my apartment, I've heard anecdotes from other tenants that the management dawdles on those as well. Beware of this place -- if you ever need the management's help with anything (duplicate keys, getting your name in the callbox, etc.) -- and you will -- you will be forced to come to the office, in person, 3-4 times before somebody actually takes action on your request. This has happened to me so many times in my brief stay here that I really think it is an institutional problem, not isolated to my situation.

I agree with everything he said! Plus the WALLS are THIN and you hear everything. I moved in a year ago and received a $3,000 discount (1.5 months free) on my lease. That was the only thing that made it worth the hassel. I tried to receive the same deal again and was told no. In addition to the $50 rent increase my rent has just gone up by $300. I can't Wait to move out! I have asked no less than 5 times to have several things fixed, and while evryone is polite and profesional, nothing gets done! Plus they nickle and dime you to death. $35-50 for parking, $35 for a cat, $25 for Water!, and then there is the utility bill that they charge a service fee on top of the constantly fluctuating usage rate. It may seem close to things, but this place is 1/2 mile from everything. You are better off living close to Clarendon. There is nothing in Rosslyn.
