Month-to-month Scam

While I generally had a good experience living at Rosslyn Heights, I had quite a shocker when I went to move out. After my 14-month lease expired, I converted to month-to-month. When I gave what I thought was the appropriate 30-day notice, the office manager said I was required to give 60 days notice and tried to charge me for the full 60 days. Of course, this violates Virginia state law which says that month-to-month tenancy requires only a 30-day notice. When I brought this to their attention, they caved in immediately. So what they are doing is trying to get that extra month's rent out of anyone who is afraid to fight or doesn't have the resources. This also happened to my neighbors.

Hello mob123,
I am experiencing the exact same situation here,
but I'm having trouble finding the state law which would back by
claim. Would you be willing to contact me at my email address
to point me in the right direction as to how I can avoid paying this
fee? I am on a month to month and they're telling me I need to give 60 days notice as well. I appreciate your help.
my email is parooka @ gmail.com
thanks
