OVERALL MAINTENANCE, SOUND, AMENITIES:
For the price, it's a decent place to live. For anyone looking into it, make sure to ask if there are any units available in the MAIN BUILDING (where the leasing office is). This is because they keep this building and its units the cleanest - I have had no mice and no roaches. I did see a few spiders and one huge centipede (looked as if it came straight out of a sci-fi movie), but that's expected during the spring.

If you're a student and require silence during the day, make sure not to get a unit overlooking the pool. Even if it's on the third floor, you can hear everything going on down there, and during spring and summer, tenants lounge next to the pool and talk rather loudly. The business room, party room, and gym are in very good condition; nothing to complain about there.

APPLIANCES, MAINTENANCE:
The appliances in my unit were brand new, and they re-carpeted and painted before I got there. The washer and dryer are tiny and stacked. Constant draft from the terrible windows and management won't do anything about it (had to buy this rubber insulation thing to cover the cracks during winter). The management isn't the most attentive, but a select few were nice. On the other hand, I can honestly say that the maintenance people are great and usually get back to you within 24 hours. Watch out for dog poop outside, however.

COMMUTING/TRANSPORTATION:
As for commuting, DON'T BE FOOLED!!! The walk to the Metro (Courthouse) is NOT 5 minutes. It's more like 12-15 minutes, through a Section 8 apartment complex (I'm female and to be honest, have been worried about my safety a few times - though ultimately nothing happened to me)and it's partly unpaved and uphill. So basically, no high heels, carry around some mace, and during the winter, be prepared to slip and slide a few times.

On the other hand, if you have a car, Sheffield offers free parking, which is nice. Finding parking is hard after 9pm or so, but my friends/visitors were able to find street parking nearby.

NEARBY STORES/RESTAURANTS:
There is a small grocery store and a couple restaurants behind the complex, but the store overcharges and you wouldn't want to eat at the restaurants often. There are mainly people buying booze in the small store, btw, and there were a couple times in the evening I didn't feel safe going there by myself.

UTILITIES:
This is something I have a gripe about: the building charges water and power (tenants set them up)and THEN a community utilities fee! "Community utilities" includes sewer, trash service, water heater, and electricity to power the commons area and stairwells. Instead of wasting money on silly "singles night BBQ's" or "movie nights," the building should cover those utilities. As for reliability, I can count 3 instances where I was without hot water and one instance (during a thunderstorm) where the power went out.

IN CONCLUSION:
If you have a car, can get a unit in the main building not overlooking the pool, and won't be taking the Metro, great. If not, AND you're a single female, I'd recommend you go elsewhere. gkZ41df9CgXQPfm8K2A7
