Very long term resident speaking .......

I've read these posts and, frankly, am very surprised by the positive recommendations. I lived at Sheffield Court for more than five years and, thankfully, finally moved this year when my lease was up. I simply gave up on the place.

The earlier posts talking about mice, roaches/insects, poor maintenance and construction are all very, very accurate. I have a huge phobia over all crawling things so I'm a cleaning fanatic. I was one of the lucky ones who didn't have a roach problem (at least anything that I saw) but there wasn't anything I could do about the centipedes, millipedes, and ants - other than complain and keep having constant exterminator visits. Frankly, the mice only showed up once and that was more than enough. The buildings are old and keeping them well-maintained is difficult. The maintenance crew (with the exception of one individual) try but there's only so much that can be done.

Of course, the management could help things by regularly painting the apartments and provide annual inspections and upkeep - more than simply checking the furnace filters in apartments. And, most importantly, making some kind of effort to keep the halls and stairways clean could go a long way. Unfortunately - it's not the case with Sheffield Court.

One of the problems that drove me crazy was the poor quality of the windows - they're constantly fogged and moisture is a serious problem. In cold weather, it wasn't at all unusual to have frost and ice on the interior as well as exterior. Despite complaints and despite constant promises of new windows - they never came.

Yes, I love dogs. I travel too much to own one but have no problems with them. The problems come with the dog owners - many of whom can't seem to understand that they have to pick up after their pets. Sometimes the office management would put up signs in the building but they never actually policed the tenants. So - the problem never went away.

Enough has been said about parking - you have a choice, either pay for a reserved space or take your chances. There's no way around the fact that there are simply not enough parking spaces to accommodate the number of tenants who live at Sheffield Court.

As far as the property management goes, it's a revolving door. The staff is constantly changing - sometimes for the better, often not. If Equity can't manage to hold on to their staff, how on earth are they ever going to get people who actually care about the property or the tenants'
