Nice Dog Friendly Community

I lived in a two bedroom apartment here for about 2 years and was generally happy with my experience. Most of the tenants are very nice. It is more socialable due to the high level of dog ownership, which is what attracted me in the first place. I found that the maintanence staff was responsive (would fix stuff in a day or two) and some office staff was very nice while others where plain old nasty.
THE big BUT to my happy experience come when we were looking to resign between my first and second year. At the time we were paying $1500 with one month free (making it $1375) then we where given a new lease at $1725 if we wanted to renew. This, of course, threw us in a panic over housing so I went an negotiated it down to $1613 which I was happy with since I knew it would go up to from $1500 but soon found out no sooner than two weeks from when we signed did we find out that another tenant right below us got it for much less maybe $1300, which is just bad business. When my roommate at the time when in to complain that this was not a good practice she got a flippant response of "what do you what me to do about it'" This left a bad taste in my mouth, considering she had been a resident for 3 years and they didn't seem to appreciate her business. My suggestion is not to be afraid to play hard ball to get the best price available.
The utilties kind of sucked too. I hated getting a water bill based on average usage since I did my best to conserve but would not feel the benefits from it.
Good luck!
