2 Years of Our Life

We lived in this poorly constructed, rat infested, mold ridden apartment complex from the 1940's. My wife and I were miserable for two solid years there and it was a terrible place to live. We had a 2 bedroom and the AC couldn't cool 1 bedroom making it unlivable. The heat never made it there either. There was mold on the windows, rats in the garbage outside, people broke into our car, the dryer didn't work, the oven clicked, the washer you couldn't get into, the carpet pealed up, the bathroom tile was soft and rotten, the tub was disgusting, the dishwasher would flood continuously, the disposal would clog regularly, the hot water was inconsistant, and the hallway needed repair and had mold. The front yard would flood anytime it rained and the basement could spawn Swamp Thing. Parking was rarely available with ease. You can hear the bugles at Ft. Meyer at 6:30am and twice at night from any apartment in the complex. The grounds needed serious work. Very little grass, pesticides and dog poop made it difficult for actual plants to grow. There was ancient peeling paint which was extremely scarey. The walls were falling apart and the basement needed constant repair to avoid the ceiling falling in. Everything was rotten. The guys who maintane the place were lazt, and could care less what kind of repairs were done. They were the most unprofessional with the unbelievably incompetant leasing staff aside. They don't understand their own leases and continually give bad information. Our move out was a total disaster. Stay away from this one, they are a terrible rip off and are extremely poorly maintaned and leased out. Don't trust them when they say they will repair something!!!

I've lived here for 5 years. Never seen a rat. Never had a repair take more than 48 hours to be addressed, and never had trouble finding a parking spot. If it was that bad, why did you stay for TWO years???

It seems like these must be programmed responses or responses from people who work here. I would find it hard to believe that you have lived here for a year and not seen any mold or rot. Perhaps the main building lacks in the apparent mold, but the other buildings are full of rotten ancient walls. There was a large mold spot forming on second floor of my building in the hallway that was never addressed and the 3rd floor hallway windows leak causing a big puddle whenever it rains heavily. I find your comment difficult to believe. You can smell the mold when you walk into the building.

My experience has been the same as the first commenter. I've lived here about a year. Never seen a rat. Never seen mold or rot. Staff has always been helpful and friendly. My AC works well, and so do all my appliances.

I have not seen any rot or mold in my apartment but I have only lived here a year. The basement of 803 however does have mold growing on the walls but not in any of the units. Additionally there are rats out by the garbage canisters but I have yet to see one indoors.

Have either of you ever lived on your own?
The first photo you show is the air filter. You need to change it every few months. They cost $.30 or so at home depot. Maintenance will do it for you if you say something.
The second photo you show is your dirty floor. You need to clean it.
The "clicking" you mention about your oven is because it's an older gas oven.
And I've responded to these ratings before. It's not automated. I've lived in 2311 for over a year and 906 for another and counting. I've never had a problem with a mouse/rat. I get silverfish things and ants in the summer months but I've never seen a roach so I can deal with that. Nothing a little Raid can't solve.
I have nothing but nice things to say about the maintenance staff and service request process. I've put in many routine requests over the years and all have been resolved within 24-48 hours. They even leave a friendly note explaining what they did or the source of the problem was.
