I was worried about moving here reading some of the reviews but I have been perfectly happy with my new home.
I do not know if problems vary by building or if some of the really upset reviewers are just really prissy ( or perhaps a combo'). These units are old. They tell you that before you move in and it's obvious to anyone who knows what to look for. That being said, our unit looks great for one built in 1948. Of course, there are issues. EVERY place I have ever called home has them. We do not have any bugs, we do not generally hear the neighbors, and I'm beginning to like the sound of reveille in the morning from Fort Myer.
Honestly, I would tell people to come check it out. See what you think for yourself. And BE SURE to see the unit you will live in before you sign the lease. Not just one with a similar floor plan because the units vary a lot. The unit we were shown initially was not nearly as nice as the one we actually got.
As for the leasing staff, we did have a problem with the first girl being a bit flaky but now we deal with Aimee and have no problems. She's great and does a good job helping us out.
So, here is the low-down: no bugs, uphill walk to metro ( about 10 minutes), parking is so-so, good area close to Clarendon and Courthouse, pet friendly and excellent price. At least look at the place.
EDIT* For the record, parking wouldn't be NEARLY as big of an issue if the tenants themselves knew how to park. Every evening there are 2 or 3 parallel spots in front of my building that cannot be used because some jackasses can't be asked to park in the lines.

I have to agree with most of what this review says - it is a decent price for the location, and a walk away from the metro, and yes, these building are OLD! So expect the very drafty windows in the winter, and some small mold stains in the bathrooms. Luckily, when an appliance craps out on you or tiles fall off the wall of your bathroom - the leasing office will replace/fix them at no cost. Definitely check out the exact unit you'll be in if possible - if not, cross your fingers and pray.
There definitely are bugs - specifically I've seen a lot of millipedes - but the user who wrote this review will find that out once it gets a little warmer. Also, you won't be bothered by your neighbors until you live next to someone with a big screen TV mounted on the back of your walls, or a screaming baby/barking dog or someone nailing up picture frames at 3am - and partially, that's all part of living in any apartment complex, but also Sheffield is not the quietest place.
All in all, you get what you pay for - so if you're looking for a nice, shiny new apartment with really nice appliances, brand new carpet, and staff that wear their Sunday's best and live to accommodate you, you'll have to check out the places a couple blocks from here & shell out a couple hundred more a month. :)
