I moved out last year and I have never been happier to be out of Taylor Place. GOOD LUCK getting the jerk who works the front desk at night (he and his room-mate lived in the apartment directly above mine) to turn in a single noise complaint at 2am or 4am on weekdays when his crack-head roomie decides to blast music all literally ALL hours of the night while REFUSING to open the door whenever I knocked to beg him to turn it down.
And I'm a raver/party kid. So if *I* am complaining about noise at odd hours, you KNOW something is up.
He would literally tear up any noise complaint I'd turn in. And after he learned to recognize my face, he'd ignore me when I'd walk all the way down to the front desk to beg HIM to get HIS roomie to turn down the noise. Very rude. Very openly racist towards Americans (not just white americans, either). I've heard him and his friends complaining about the worthless greedy Americans while I've stood in clear view in the lobby on occasions.
Management will pretend to care and then not do anything about stuff that's wrong. Over-priced! STAY AWAY!
Also, the utilities is a joke. You do NOT pay for what you use - you pay for what everyone in the building uses (it's billed by the number of square feet in your apartment). I had the master bedroom and I never turned on the heat over the winter because the room I was living in was so warm.. and I still had bills of $150 or so for utilities I never used!
Rent is outrageous for what you're getting. Don't move here. I moved out over a year ago and I still hate the place for all the money they made me waste.

I'm glad to see that more people are becoming aware of the miserable situation that UDR creates at Taylor Place and ANYWHERE they manage (or mismanage) properties ! The noise problem over my head and around me was so bad, and any time I complained, I was told the perps were not violating their contract, and the man on the desk actually lied to me when he said he went upstairs to tell them to keep the noise down. And those utilities, my first few weeks there, I kept the heat off, used as little electricity as possible, and then I see my bill for $100 plus ! Unbelivable !!!

You guys are just upset you got kicked out, the apartments look 5x better than they did before and higher qualified residents will move in that can afford the utilities and not complain like lower middle class whiners that you are.

For the record, I was not kicked out. I turned in my own Notice to Vacate after experiencing these things. True! The apartments DO look better than before, but that does not invalidate Patrick's unprofessional attitude, refusal to get the sound turned down at 4am, or the unfair break-down of the utilities... if I used my heat all the time, I'd probably think it's a good way to distribute the cost, but I use my own heat very little so the cost was unfair.
