Taylor Place is Average

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I needed to make my way back here since I read the comments on here before relocating to the area and choosing an apartment. I can honestly say that it is not horrible, but it is also not the best apartment complex. Some of the pros are the renovations that have been done, parking, and location (proximity to D.C.). Though I do not believe the renovations are TOP QUALITY...much of it appears to be surface and I can imagine that they will not last 5-10 years. You can already see some of the deterioration in parts of the building that were completed a little earlier. The rent is expensive period...in the DMV area! I can say that the specials they were running in Taylor Place over the past several months made the building more enticing, but I cannot fathom paying nearly $2,000 per month for my place. I don't think I will remain in the building much longer if the rent goes back up to market rate. Some of the office staff are genuinely nice and concerned...others, you have to wonder if they are "fake" and say one thing to your face, and something else when you leave. It is pretty apparant that a couple people are like this. But, you should be fine if you keep it professional. The office procedures/competency has not been the most efficient at times though...misinformation, gaps in your file, etc.
Some of the other issues are the malfunctioning of various parts of the apartments and building facilities at times (elevators, outer doors, heaters, etc.). I am also a little suspect of the way the utilities are calculated. It is definitely not fair for a person who has a three bedroom to pay more utilities if they are not home as much...based simply on the size of their place and number of people that live there. What if they all travel 6 months out of the year for business'
All and all living at Taylor Place has not been the worst, but it has also not been the best. I cannot say I would enthusiastically recommend the place, but it is definitely not the slums. I happen to be quite meticulous therefore my standards may be a bit higher. I looked at several places and couldn't find anything the size of my place within my price range. I moved here from out of state therefore I had limited time. In a year or so, I plan to make a more informed decision after getting to know the area.
I hope this helps.
