Almost all repairs (this *is* an old bldg.) are done by the staff, not professionals, such as plumbing problems, and usually end up worse than original problem. High staff turnover, & staff is Very snoopy. OTOH, large apartments, high ceilings, so good value in that sense. Sounds carry, from outside, through doors & walls, etc. at a very loud level, contrary to the claim that this is virtually soundproof.
There are No entries without stairs except for one very steep ramp through the emergency exit.
Ventilation is a "constant-draw" duct system that doesn't ever seem to have been cleaned & basically doesn't work, which is unpleasant- normal kitchen & bathroom odors linger, since there are are only very small segments of the windows which open.
Tenants are very nice, and the neighborhood is very convenient, so it's a good value if you're not real picky, esp. considering all basic utilities are included in rent.
