Having lived in Clarendon for 2 years, we knew we wanted to stay in the area, but we were not so optimistic about finding a reasonably priced apartment. Most of the 1BR apartments in the area are over $2000/mo with no utilities. I went to this website just to get an idea of what's out there, and I noticed that V.Sq. was rated 97%. With such positive reviews, we applied. The application process was a breeze! We inquired about the apartment on a Saturday and received the application form by fax. We sent all our info Sunday night, met with the leasing person (Gloria) and looked at the building on Wednesday, and got confirmation on Thursday! They don't require first and last months rent; just a $400 move in fee (for painting, carpets, etc. I assume) and if you move mid-month, they prorate the rent for the time you're in the apartment. The unit we have is east-facing on the 8th floor. There is a huge balcony accessible from the bedroom and living room. The bathroom is large, with a walk in w/d. Having been spoiled with a gigantic soaker tub, we were disappointed with the standard size tub, but oh well! The kitchen has lots of cabinets, but has an electric stove.
So far, the leasing office has been really accommodating. I dropped by one afternoon to take pictures and measurement of an empty unit so we can see if furniture fit, and they were more than happy to let me in. We are moving in mid-October, we'll let you know more after we break the place in.
