Regarding the preceding review, can you believe there's an apartment manager overly concerned with the safety, security and upkeep of the building that she requires compliance with the fire code and the apartment lease and employs a dose of common sense'

Yes, the Arlington County fire code prohibits gas and charcoal grills on apartment porches, the apartment rules clearly state no bicycles on the porches (private bike storage facilities accesible from the parking garage are available at $5/month), the parking garage is always clean (close to immaculate) and, for everyone's safety and security, ingress and egress is controlled. There's 24-hour front-desk coverage and a security pass is required to enter the building, hence, the reason one can't use the community room's side door to go outside (nor does that door have a paved approach on the outside; it leads to a grassy area and not to a walkway).

Virginia Square Plaza apartments are the best there is in Arlington County. Well-managed, well-maintained, very clean and extremely presentable, plus a great location with a lot of amenities and extremely tight windows so there's virtually no street noise except for emergency vehicles. I encourage the preceding reviewer to check out an Archstone property in the area; I'm sure he or she will find the management and quality (or lack thereof) to be more in line with his or her preferences.

Also, I encourage the poster not to wait to "buy a place within a year or so", but to get out of here now and, whenever, be sure to look for a older single family home, because otherwise you're sure to have problems with any responsible condominium or homeowners' association.

Thanks for your thoughts, Eileen.

Be wary of the positive reviews on this website. It seems a lot of them are written by the management company and/or manager. I have lived in a lot of buildings and Virginia Square has been the worst.
