It has its ups and downs

Lived here a little over 2 years for various reasons. It has its ups and downs. Hope my info helps anyone in their apartment search.

Pros:
-Landscape is pretty well maintained. The apartments have a campus/dorm feel to them.
-Price is very good for size of apartments and location. Good for commuting. Can hitch a bus or walk to Courthouse metro (about a mile walk)
-Maintenance staff always nice and helpful. Very prompt if you needed them.

Cons:
-Office Staff. Even though you only deal with them a few times a year that is too many. Marisol can be decent. Ms. Rose I do not like to deal with at all. I understand in her post below she mentions its a defense mechanism and she does it because clients are rude to her. I also understand that in her role she needs to be firm as some tenants may take advantage. I understand she turned W&L around in regards to landscaping and clients but it doesn't mean a thing if all those people move out. Notices from management are given out often threatening to evict buildings if something bad happens. Save these notices (should you ever need them for legal recourse) and if you are contributing to the problem that caused it, stop.
-Parking. Parking is on a first come first serve basis. It can sometimes be a hassle. Its rare but I have had to park on the other side of the complex for a spot. Also have all inspection stickers up to date. You will be towed and have to go to Alexandria to pick it up. I have had my car inspection lapse and on the 1st of the month the car was towed.
-Noise. Very noisy. Its an older building with hardwood floors. I can hear alarm clocks above me and people talking beneath me. The hallways amp noise and you can hear neighbors all the time.
-Carpets. If you live on 2nd or 3rd floor be prepared to buy carpets when you move in. I think lease says 80% coverage not including bathroom or kitchen. These help on noise but not too much.
-Vermin. I have never seen so many bugs and creatures ever. Even if you keep your place immaculate you will still have them. If you request an exterminator the management will get one for you quickly but it never seemed to work as well as you would think. As soon as one apartment is "bombed" they move to the next. When you get a notice that they are cleaning out the storage rooms buy mouse traps. You will get mice in your apartment. A day after they did this I had 5 mice in the apartment, saw one in the stairwell downstairs and my neighbors also reported them. They were gone soon after but you still have to deal with them.
-Laundry rooms are cramped, old, and do leave a strange smell on your clothing.
-Guest policy is the worst. You have 14 days aggregate per year for guests. Upon signing the lease Ms. Rose mentioned that if anyone (staff) came in my apartment and saw another person there that it was a violation of lease and I would be evicted. All guests need to be signed in at the office (which closes at 4)

All in all it isnt bad. The worst things can be survived. I can't recommend or not recommend the place. Contact me if you have specific questions. Hope this helped.
