All told, still a good (but expensive) choice

Quiet, clean. Large, bright apartments, some renovated, many not. Great desk staff. Maintenance group competent and responsive, if spread a little thin. Double windows maintain quiet despite the adjacent train tracks and National Airport. Great location, with easy access to Metro and the CC underground "mall". Good restaurants down the street and on 23rd are convenient. Very nice pool area.
Intermittent problems with hot water, garage and door access system (functionally obsolete). Garage is grimy (from the trains'), and leaky. Package service spotty at best. Common areas and hallways are very tired. Paying extra for allocated utilities is aggravating, especially when you know you're paying for heating and cooling a useless, gargantuan lobby and wasteful accent lighting designed ages ago. New fitness center took forever to complete. Food shopping not convenient. Nickel & diming tenants (added parking fee!)is a nuisance, may drive me away when lease is up.
Still, on balance, it's a good (but expensive) place to live in Crystal City. I don't see anything better in the neighborhood.
