I think the rest of the people who have complained are just a bunch of whiners. Their complaints are just ridiculous! Apartment living is what it is. That means you have to share your space with others. I love living here! Here are a few reasons why:
Overall, the management company has been great. They have never hesitated to help me when I've had an issue (and by issue, I mean I'm having a party and need parking for my guests, or I lost my laundry card and need a new one). They have made improvements to the property; from putting on a new roof and new windows to giving the building interiors a desperately needed new look. I can see the changes occurring on site, and honestly, they are a welcome change.
The parking in gated, well-lit and patrolled by the courtesy officers throughout the night. I work late hours, and have never felt unsafe walking through the parking area to get to my building. When I??ve needed to take the ??tro, the shuttle was convenient, on time and has saved me a lot of money and hassle.
My apartment is HUGE! I have so much closet space, I'm storing a couple of bikes for some friends. Especially compared to other complexes in the area, the Wellington gives you square footage for the money.
I also love the fact that there are no pets allowed on the property. I'm very allergic, and it's nice not to get sick from Fido or Fifi. The last place I loved (right across Columbia Pike) allows every kind of animal. I've seen people with St. Bernards who live in apartments half the size of mine. That's just crazy!
As far as noise, the building in made of CONCRETE. Anyone who's tried to hang a picture has found that out very quickly. Personally, I lived in a lot of apartment complexes-- this is the first where I could not hear my neighbor cough in the middle of the night. The building is very soundproof as far as apartment complexes go, especially since the new windows were installed last year. The Wellington has turned me away from newly constructed buildings for good.
To the complainers: The notification about extermination clearly said it was PREEMPTIVE-- meaning that the building does not have a problem with pests and would like to continue not having a problem with pests. That??s normal in apartment living. You know what else is normal' Dealing with people from other cultures. And by dealing, I mean occasionally smelling other types of food or hearing languages other than English when walking down the hallway. In the DC area, you??re not going to find non-diverse living. Unless you buy a house, which would be my suggestion for the people who don??t appreciate the multi-culturalness that DC in general, and the Wellington specifically, have to offer. Where I come from there are only two kinds of people. I truly hope never to live that way again. My horizons have been opened by the exposure.
I??ll stop. If you are looking for a great community to live in, consider the Wellington. You won??t be disappointed!

Theres nothing wrong with different cultures. Having been born and raised in Arlington I know this. The problem is that some of these cultures have 8-9 people living in a one bedroom apartment I've seen it they live above me and you can't nail anything into the walls but you can hear the people around you. The whole roach thing is fine if they are tring to nip a problem in the bud but there is a severe infestation problem thats why they're doing this. My neighbor and her little boy have come out of there place in the morning covered in welts by some infestation thats eating them alive at night but has management done anything NO. I have mice in my apartment I've had to put my own traps down after the management office refused to call me back I've killed two of the mice so far. I'm not a dirty person I'm a neat freak. I could eat off my floors thats how anal I am about cleaning. You must live in the very posh south building and you may have a lot of money thats why they are nice to you. As far as crime my car has been broken into 2 times right in front of the management office someones been defacating in the stairwells and it takes 3 days to clean it up after its been reported a young lady was robbed in one of the hallways people stealing clothes from unattended washing machines someone tring to break into the laundry card machine several times now they've moved it to the lobby but theres never anyone there to watch it or much less allow us to pick UPS packages. THIS PLACE SUCKS
