I lived at the Wellington from 2002 - 2008 (moved out this past Spring). All 6 years, I've had problems. I lived through 3 differrent management companies (Charles E. Smith, Fairfield Properties, BainBridge). No company can stay long enough to tolerate the issues. I've had hot water issues, A/C issues, AND theft. Please note that Bainbridge does NOT accompany outside contractors such as Erlich exterminators in the apartments. Never had a problem with the previous 2 management companies...they ALWAYS let us know that someone was entering our apartments and a management rep would accompany them. After the theft incident, I did not feel safe there. It appears that the exterminator snooped around my apartment, stole a credit card AND my spare apartment keys and spare car key. Come to find out, the b*stard came back into my apartment when I was not home (using my spare key) and stole my satellite radio (right from my stereo)!!!
Troy in Maintenence is GREAT...He really got the jobs done (and he's been in my apt multiple times at various hours and NEVER once complained).
It is so not worth the hassle of living there!! I moved to Shirlington a few months ago. For about $200 more, I get the convenience of all Shirlington has to offer (walking distance to bars/restaurants, Harris Teeter, library, theater, etc.) and updated apartments with my OWN washer/dryer! It is definitely worth paying the extra money to get the heck out of the Wellington.

I feel your pain buddy. I had serious problems with them propping open my door. And when I called the management office to voice my concern and ask if they could come on a weekend when most people are home they said no. But I really doubt they had anybody monitouring these contracttors. The leasing company can vouch for people but all it takes is for one bad apple to see something shiny sitting in an unguarded apartment. My lease is up soon and I can't wait to get out. I've been here since 02 also and the only reason I've put up with all this for so long is that my rent is really cheap. People open your eyes and don't rent here.

I once came home at 1am after working a late shift and found a note saying that I had to move all the furniture away from the convector units because they would be replaced the next day. Since I had to be back at work by 8am I had to move all the furniture that night. The note had not been there at 2pm when I left for work. They are terrible about giving enough notice. Also, if they had given more notice about leaving my door propped open "approximately two hours" to paint it I would have arranged to take the day off work. My neighber said that the doors were propped open practically all day and there was no one monitoring the hallways (as the management office had promised there would be). They are now installing a decorative fountain, but cannot tell me when the graffiti on my elevator will be painted over (it's been there almost two years).

Thank you for telling me what I "should have" done, Mr./Miss Gramatically Incorrect. But I think I can make my own decisions. Change does take time, this is true. I stayed for 6 years b/c of the location, inexpensive rent, nice grounds. I have given each manager the benefit of the doubt. Yes, I did have issues with all 3 companies. However, the other 2 companies took the time to fix the problems immediately. The 3rd time was not the charm in this case. When I was burglarized, management did not even wince, which made me feel like they really didn't care or they are used to this sort of thing. I am not complaining; I am merely voicing my opinion and warning others who care to be warned. Personally, I've just had enough of living in one place for 6 years.
